I’m a longtime tech journalist and printing historian. Over the years, I’ve written for Macworld, TechHive, Six Colors, TidBITS, PC World (and PCWorld), the New York Times, the Economist, Fortune, and many others. I started researching and writing about printing and type history in 2017, and have written a series of semi-related books: How Comics Are Made (2024 and 2025 editions), Six Centuries of Type & Printing (2020, 2025), and the upcoming Flong Time, No See (Sept. 2026).
Why Won’t You Sleep is one of a very small family of Mac apps I’ve built to scratch my own itches — sibling to Mister Plimsoll (disk-space monitoring) and Loupe Guru (coming soon).
